Kappa League

In the infancy of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity when chapters were blossoming and flourishing throughout the length and breadth of the United States, both individual and collective efforts were being made to incorporate meaningful programs into the various social chapter activities. According to The Story of Kappa Alpha Psi, soon after the St. Louis Alumni Chapter's beginning in 1921, Brothers Leon W. Stewart and U. Jerome Peters were assigned to study the possibility of the chapter's organizing a group of boys for the purpose of guidance.

The Y.M.C.A. secretary, proposed a program of guidance to be designated as Guide Right, with the purpose of assisting high school seniors to choose and pursue useful careers, consistent with fraternity purposes. This program was immediately adopted and has been the local chapter's outstanding Guide Right program.

The award-winning Austin Kappa League is the flagship initiative of the Austin Guide Right Program and is geared toward helping students ages 13-18 develop their talents and potential in every field of human endeavor. It provides both challenging and rewarding experiences through oriented activities. The members are exposed to planning, executing and reporting ideas, stimulating good leadership characteristics, designed to raise their aspiration level.
